Community Involvement
Mike is continuously involved in the community. He’s donated numerous guided
fishing trips to the Vacaville Boys and Girls Club of America to help raise
money for their cause. Mike has spent time speaking individually with certain
youths who are part of the club.
In 2006 Mike established a new program called “Fishing for Teens” to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America by donating $.50 per pound of fish he catches in the 2007 competition year. In addition to the donation, the program features a speaking engagement to youths at the Vacaville and Dixon California clubs. In the Spring of 2007, when the program launches, Mike will tell the youths at the club about the program. The teens will have guidelines including: Attendance, Scholastics, and Behavior. All teens in compliance with the guidelines will be entered in a drawing to spend a day fishing with Mike. The Event will be filmed and produced by WesternBassTV and a copy given to the winner.
Mike participated in the 2006 C.O. Pro-Teen event held annually at Russo’s Marina on the California Delta. In years past he has also donated services to KIDS Fishing (a non-profit organization that teaches youths to fish), and the Windsor High School Booster Club. Mike loves to work with youths and believes that his support of these organizations will bring new faces into the sport and encourage youths to get involved in fishing instead of drugs and other negative influences in life.
Mike’s personality and enjoyment of teaching make communicating with an audience of future fishermen one of the thrills he enjoys most. If you are interested in learning more about the “Fishing for Teens” program or how you can help contribute please E-mail Mike @ Mtuckjr@comcast.net
